Black women’s unemployment in a single month, Aug–Sep 2026 · source
And as Black women spend longer looking for work, more of us are turning to entrepreneurship to create another path forward.
That part isn’t new. Black women are one of the fastest-growing groups of entrepreneurs in the country. Black women-owned employer businesses grew 71.6% between 2017 and 2022, outpacing women-owned and Black-owned businesses overall.
But we’re still being asked to build against the odds: self-funding our ideas, carrying too much of the work alone, burning out, and trying to scale without the same access to capital, networks, and infrastructure.
We’ve already seen what Black women can create with limited resources.
We want to see what Black women can create when we’re fully resourced.
Sankofa isn’t just a moment.
It’s a movement.

Here’s what your gift help us accomplish:
Community Platform

Seed Grants
Coming 2027. Every membership contributes to the pool.Financial support paired with mentorship and community accountability for entrepreneurial and creative ventures
Residential Retreats
Launching in 2026 - 2027.
Time to rest and move a deferred dream forward, with need-based scholarships so every retreat is open across class lines.
Founding member subsidies
So price is never the reason a Black woman can’t receive the support she needs.
Community made. Community funded. Community owned.
Sankofa Impact Collective is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit because we wanted this community to belong to itself. Membership, grants and individual gifts together keep it from depending on any single source, so no one can sell it or walk away with it. Every dollar goes back into the women it was built for.
Give in 2026 and become a Founding Donor.
Sankofa Impact Collective opened in August 2026 with a vision of building the infrastructure Black women can build on for generations. Everyone who gives by December 31, 2026 becomes a Founding Donor, one of the people who helped move that vision from an idea into something real.
We will honor your support on this page by name, first name and last initial, or anonymously.
